The Temperance is a Tarot Card that symbolizes conciliation and renewal. Its meaning is associated to restraint, moderation, and being meticulous about most things in life. Temperance concerns truth, even during tough times.

Temperance is sometimes frowned upon. When it comes to our skill to wait patiently, it is one of the hardest cards to accept. Is it, though? Only being patient we can find fulfillment and renewal in life.

This is one of the four Cardinal Virtues cards in tarot (also known as Guidance Cards) and its virtue is the capacity to control our impulses and not give into exaggeration.

Temperance Tarot Card Meaning

“Temperance” suggests moderation and patience when facing sluggishness. It demands perseverance against boredom. When it comes to this card, we can’t assume everything will be resolved in a matter hours.

Temperance demands austerity and dedication, even if you do not think you have time to do what it takes to achieve the expected results.

Temperance: Image

The image of Temperance has been changing over time. However, the most common representation of it is a winged angel standing over a creek, one foot in the water and the other on land.

With both hands, the angel moves the content of two jars, constantly moving the water around. This representation shows balance and it also shows how much the angel cares about the substances inside. They are opposites that must blend in harmony.

Due to these and other symbolisms, the Temperance has been associated with alchemy in the past. Alchemy is the art of transforming common substances into noble elements, like turning lead into gold.

That’s why Temperance is associated with any efforts to turn ordinary elements into valuable substances. On a deeper level, this arcana turns meaningless situations into meaningful experiences.

The meaning of Temperance in Love

The Temperance Tarot meaning shows how opposites attract and coexist to create a relationship full of harmony. This card represents the tranquility of a stable relationship that always remains the same.

There is friendship, kindness, and attentiveness. The love between you is deep, even if the routine is boring.

This card advises the couple to establish deeper bonds- since all the ingredients in the relationship make a beautiful recipe.

The meaning of Temperance in your sex life

The Temperance is related to sexual chemistry and long sex, with a lot of foreplay and no rush to finish.

It’s also connected to the practice of Tantric Sex, sacred sexuality, and using chemical substances to improve libido.

The meaning of Temperance in your life

Temperance indicates that you’re kind, optimistic, concerned for others, and willing to see the best, even in the worst creatures. This shows your virtue and it proves that you think before you judge. You’re capable being neutral, not in favor or against anyone.

You analyze the facts and try to see the positive in everyone. At a stalemate, you consider all the aspects of it and take into account the effort of those who make mistakes.

You’re reliable and trustworthy. Someone who always protects your true friends from any injustice or danger. You are aware that life is way more meaningful than the details of everyday life.
